Fa’atalofa atu ia te outou uma,

We have our school photos taking place on Tuesday 6th June. This is the first day after the long weekend.

We are sending a reminder just to ensure that all of our students are ready with their school uniforms for their class photos next week.

PAID UNION MEETING - WED 31ST MAY 2023

As you may have heard, there will be a Paid Union Meeting for Teachers on Wed 31st May.

However, Papatoetoe South School will remain open for learning and finishing school as per usual at 3.00pm. Whilst some Teachers will be a part of the Paid Union Meeting, the children will be supervised by non-union teachers and teacher assistants who will be having a great time with the Tosogāmaea Challenge in the afternoon! Children will be back in their rooms by 2.50pm for pickup at 3.00pm. If you would like to pick up your child earlier we will be releasing kids at 12pm who already have permission. There is a form coming home today with a return slip or alternatively write a note for your child's teacher. Ngā mihi.

What's on @ PSS?

Talofa lava everyone! This week is Samoan Language week and we are so excited. We open the occasion with an Ava Ceremony on Monday! Children are welcome to wear their cultural attire for the opening and closing ceremonies. The opening ceremony will go live on our Facebook page! See you there!

Car Park Access

Kia ora e te whanau,

We are aware of the wet weather at the moment and have received requests for the school car park gate to be opened to allow for children to be dropped off at the school door. Unfortunately, we are unable to use this as our Special Needs vehicles are using this area for dropping off our students with additional physical needs and it is the only available space to do so.

The car park is tight and only has a single-lane driveway, so our traffic gets backed up. We have emptied half of our car park to make room for these vehicles but we are unable to fit in any more at this time.

Please park and drop off or walk with your child using our pedestrian entrances. As we are likely to have wetter weather throughout the term, please ensure your child has a raincoat or umbrella for these rainy days.

The pedestrian gate is opened for students at 8.15am.

Student safety is paramount and we thank you for your cooperation in keeping all of our tamariki safe.

Thank you for your support

Tumuaki / Principal

It is an absolute pleasure and privilege to serve our Papatoetoe community as Tumuaki of Papatoetoe South School. We pride ourselves on being a caring and inclusive school that focuses on encouraging students to achieve their potential academically, physically, socially and emotionally, whilst standing strong as who they are.

Our school whakatauki “Ko te Tamaiti te Pūtake o te Kaupapa / The Child the Heart of the Matter” highlights our intention to have our students at the centre of every decision we make. We have a strong commitment to nurturing and supporting our students to be the best learners, leaders and citizens they can be. We are a diverse school and work hard to offer a curriculum that celebrates our diversity, and honours whānau as the first teachers of our tamariki. We know we cannot do our job successfully without working together in partnership, and warmly welcome you to our school website and through our school doors.
