Welcome to Papatoetoe South School, our caring and inclusive school that focuses on encouraging students to achieve their potential academically, physically, socially and emotionally. Our school vision “Ko te Tamaiti te Pūtake o te Kaupapa / The Child the Heart of the Matter” highlights our intention to have our students at the centre of every decision we make. We have a strong commitment to nurturing and supporting our students to be the best learners, leaders and citizens they can be.

The classroom programmes are rich and engaging, and the range of cultural, sporting and performance opportunities allow every student access to an environment where they can participate and excel. We are proud of Te Puna Akona (our two Maori bilingual classes) and of Le Va (our inclusive centre designed to support students with high needs), as these special aspects of our school highlight our commitment to nurturing the whole child and celebrating the unique strengths that each child brings.

We pride ourselves on being an inclusive, culturally responsive and caring school where our staff have a team approach, and warmly welcome whanau and our wider community to be involved. We believe that working together with families and students is the key to creating a solid platform for future success. This sense of kohaitanga means that we constantly strive to develop the strong relationships necessary to know our learners and impact positively on their learning and lives.

If you are considering our school as your school of choice for your child, then please come and visit. The best way to make this important decision is to see school life in action.

Warmest regards

Caroline Chawke
